Heliodor is a variety of the mineral Beryl which is characterized by its pale greenish-yellow to golden-yellow hue which results from inclusions of iron within the beryl. It is sometime called by the misnomer “yellow emerald”. Heliodor has a Mohs hardness of 8 which makes it extremely durable for use in jewelry due to it’s scratch resistant surface. It is often found in Russia, Brazil, and Madagascar. Metaphysically known for it’s warmth, heliodor is believed to bring happiness and joy to whoever possesses it.
