Staurolite

This silicate often forms a natural cross with twinned reddish brown crystals. These twins may cross at a 90º angle to form a Greek cross or at a 60º angle as in St. Andrew’s cross. The name is derived from the Greek stauros, meaning “cross.” Staurolite has long been used as a good luck and protection charm. Pocahontas and Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson wore staurolite charms for luck. Metaphysically, staurolite is used for luck, protection, and spirituality. Deposits are found in the US, Russia, France, Brazil and Madagascar.
