The Fossil Cartel has all the display stands you’ll need!
Acrylic stands
These display stands come in an assortment that let you display 3 dimensional, flat slabs, egg and sphere specimens. There are also magnifying boxes as well as stands that will light your specimen from behind or underneath. Acrylic stands come in clear or black. A few pluses for the acrylic stands are: you hardly notice them when cradling your specimen, they are relatively inexpensive and there is a big assortment to choose from. Prices range from .75 and up.
Wrought Iron Stands
Wrought iron display stands add a little elegance to your specimen. The nice thing about these is they are made of natural metal ores that also come from the Earth, adding to the natural theme. They are relatively inexpensive as well. There are three styles available: two for slabs and one for spheres and eggs. The ones for spheres and eggs can be used upside down for 3 dimensional specimens. They look especially nice with fish fossils. Prices start at $2.50 and up.
Wooden Cobra Stands
These stands are something to marvel at. They are carved from one piece of wood, but how they do it is a puzzle to us because it looks impossible! These are great for three dimensional specimens and spheres. They are inexpensive and since they are wood, go nicely with the natural theme. Prices start at $1.50.
Hand Stands
Below are some of our favorites! They go by the names “Offering Hands” and “Helping Hands.” These hand stands are made right here in Oregon! The manufacturer keeps the material they’re made from a secret, but they are of a durable and off-white substance. The details in the hands are phenomenal! You can see the fingernails and wrinkles. The hand stands are perfect for smaller specimens. The larger offering hands are also great for spheres. They’re a nice gift for a massage therapist or someone who uses their hands a lot. Prices start at $10.
We have a large assortment of stands for all of your specimens. Stands are hard to find elsewhere and so we are happy to provide you with the ones that will suit your needs. See more often at our Instagram page.

Do you have any display stands for ammonites that are 12-18″ diameter?
Hi John,
Yes we do have stands that are large enough for ammonites ranging from 12″ to 18″
1.I recommend either the extra large wrought iron slab stand found here.

2. Or the large or extra large wrought iron triangle slab stands

3. Or the 9″, 12″ or 15″ acrylic upright easel stands depending on the size of ammonite.

I live in San Diego and have three good sized agate slices and an Ammonite specimen. I need sturdy attractive stands made. Any suggestions? Where are you located? Thanks very much, Linda
Thanks for the questions. We are located in Portand Oregon, USA
We have several different options that could work for your pieces.

I have a specimen that is approximately 14″H x 17″L x 1″ thick and weighs about 13 pounds. Would the medium wrought iron stand work for this?
No, I think that stand would be too small for your piece. I’m going to recommend the large Triangular Wrought Iron Slab Display Stands https://thefossilcartel.com/product/triangular-wrought-iron-slab-stand/
My husband wants to get some display stands for his rock and mineral collection, and I suggested he get acrylic or plastic display stands for this. Your article had great information about display stands I could share with my husband, and I liked how you said acrylic is a good choice as it is relatively inexpensive and won’t detract from the specimens on display. Thanks; I’ll share this with my husband and hopefully he’ll get acrylic display stands for his minerals.
Help!!
I have a few beautiful Quartz crystal points that are uneven on the bottom. I want to display them standing up. Do you have any suggestions??
Hello Jeff,
Depending on how you’d want the crystals to be oriented would determine the best stand.
If you want them to be upright with the point directed upwards then I would suggest these.
Tulip Stands/
If you don’t mind them lying sideways I would suggest these table stands. They can either sit like a table or be reversed so the pegs are points upwards.
Rectangle Peg Stands
Hello
I have two very large, heavy museum quality fossils to display. One is 18×23 inches diameter and 1inch thick.
Very Heavy ( 25 lbs)
Which stand do you recommend?
Thanks!
Rosemary
I would recommend the largest stand in this style. https://thefossilcartel.com/product/acrylic-upright-easel-stand/
