Prehnite is an inosilicate mineral composed of calcium and aluminum that often forms as boytroidal crystal aggregates, globular masses, or as stalactites. It commonly forms as a secondary mineral in the veins of basalt and granite, and is also often found in matrix with epidote crystals. Prehnite can be found in a variety of localities around the world such as South Africa, Canada, New Jersey, and Spain.
