Psilomelane

Psilomelane is a group name for hard black manganese oxides consisting of hydrous manganese oxide with variable amounts of barium and potassium. Its name comes from the Greek words for "smooth" and "black," due to its shiny black surface featuring metallic-grey or silver woodgrain-like patterns. Psilomelane has no definite chemical composition and occurs as botryoidal and stalactitic masses with a smooth shining surface and submetallic lustre. Metaphysically, it is said to help with protection, grounding, and re-directing energy.
