Apatite is a calcium phosphate, our major source of phosphorous. The name is from the Greek apate, meaning “deceit,” because apatite resembles other minerals such as amethyst, aquamarine and olivine. Apatite ranges from green to blue to golden yellow, as well as purple, white, colorless and rose-red.
