Cave Bear Teeth

These molars and incisors are from the extinct Ursus spelaeus, who lived throughout Europe 200,000 - 20,000 years ago and became extinct during the last glacial period. Cave bears averaged 10 feet tall standing up, were omnivorous and lived in caves year-round. Prehistoric humans either worshipped the cave bear or used its remains in religious rituals. Cave bear skulls discovered in caves were also misinterpreted to be the remains of dragons. These fine specimens come from Romania.
