Delightful druzy cobaltoan calcite specimen, from The Democratic Republic of Congo. A rare form of calcite that bears the element cobalt. Also known as Aphrodite Stone. Many tiny pink calcite crystals and a bit of malachite on matrix with a flat bottom. Very deep pink color.

Cobaltoan Calcite
This form of calcium carbonate features a distinctive deep pink color due to the presence of cobalt. Found mainly in Dem. Rep. of Congo and Morocco, cobaltoan calcite most commonly forms as a coating of tiny deep pink sparkling crystals on a matrix rock. Metaphysically, it is said to be a stone of love and forgiveness. |
