Dryhead Agate Slab

Agate has the same chemical composition as quartz but instead of forming whole crystals, it has a microcrystalline structure. To be a true “agate,” the stone must exhibit a pattern or banding, otherwise it is considered chalcedony. Believed to come from the Late Cretaceous Period, about 65-90 million years ago, this variety of agate unique to Mexico is known for its reds, whites, and yellows.
