This concretion (or nodule) containing a matching pair of fern fossils from The Pennsylvanian era Carbondale Formation was found at Mazon Creek outside Coal City, IL. Species Diplazites unita, class Filocopsida (ferns), featuring pinnate leaves with spores on the underside.
