Fern Fossil Slab

Fern fossils are an extremely ancient family of ferns. They are often dated back to the Llewellyn Formation (300 million years old, Pennsylvanian Period). This is the time period characterized for laying down the large deposits of carbon that we later in life would use as a worldwide energy resource.
