For about 30 years Joe and Janice Van Cura have been collecting thundereggs.
Since they live in Oregon, and Oregon is known as one of the best spots in the
world to collect thundereggs, most of their collection is from there. This book
highlights over 650 of their best specimens from 120 locations. Janice shares in
anecdotal, first-person style the history, lore, and location of these specimens.
There are several calderas formed by ancient volcanoes in Oregon that are
associated with deposits of thundereggs. Each deposit had slightly different
chemistry so the thundereggs formed with varying characteristics. This led to
the amazing display of sizes, shapes, colors, and patterns you will see
throughout the book.
