| Orpiment
Orpiment is a brightly colored, orange to brown arsenic sulfide mineral. It can be found within low temperature hydrothermal vents, hot springs and fumaroles. Orpiment is a common mineral and specimens can be found worldwide. It was once used as a gold-colored pigment, hence the name or- (gold) -piment (pigment). This mineral is photosensitive and should be stored out of light. Metaphysically, orpiment, stimulates intellect and analysis. Since this mineral contains arsenic, it is recommended that you wash your hands after handling it, and don't ingest it! |
