Schalenblende
Schalenblende consists of banded concentric layers of sphalerite (brown), wurtzite (yellow), marcasite and/or pyrite (brass color), and galena (silver). Cut and polished into slabs to show off its contrasting botryoidal bands, schalenblende feels remarkably heavy due to its high metal content. Found in Poland, its name is German, translated as “shell ore” in allusion to its layered structure. Metaphysically, it is said to aid in grounding and protection, as well as boosting the immune system.
