Magnetite
Also known as “lodestone,” magnetite can be magnetic enough to attract iron filings and deflect a compass needle. It is said to be named for the Greek shepherd boy Magnes, who noticed that the nails of his shoes clung to a magnetite-bearing rock. An iron oxide of the spinel group of minerals, magnetite usually forms octahedral crystals, though it can also be granular or massive. Magnetite aids telepathy, meditation and visualization. It attracts love, commitment and loyalty. Excellent crystals are found in Bolivia, Italy, Mexico, New York and Vermont. |
