Vanadinite
This relatively rare mineral is a lead vanadate chloride. Crystals are usually long prisms, but can also be hair-like. It is a secondary mineral in oxidized ore deposits containing lead, and is often associated with galena, barite, wulfenite, and limonite. Vanadinite is a major source of vanadium, which is used for refining steel, making it strong with considerable shock resistance. Vanadium is also used in the manufacture of sulfuric acid and nylon. Fine specimens of vanadinite are found in Morocco, Brazil, Scotland, and the USA. Metaphysically, Vanadinite is used to aid decision making. Barite Barite is a mineral consisting of barium sulfate. Derived from the Greek word meaning “heavy,” barite feels relatively heavy, but is quite soft. Found in many places in the world, barite is generally white or colorless, but can be almost any color, depending on the included mineral content. Barite typically grows in tabular crystals, usually in parallel, but also as bladed, white masses. Barite "Desert Roses" are brown from sand inclusions, and form aggregates that resemble roses. Metaphysically, barite enhances dream recall, friendship, harmony and love. |
